The National Futures Association's (NFA) definition of a forex commodity trading advisor (forex CTA) is an individual or organization which, for compensation or profit, advises others as to the value of or the advisability of buying or selling off-exchange retail forex. CTAs are required to register with the NFA per the new proposal released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in early 2010.
